Another great way to keep on track with the journey is to follow on Marinetraffic.com.
In the summer 2013 Elisabeth Weihe made a test sail from Oslo to Scotland. Her log is embedded in the map below.
How to get from Oslo to Liverpool and back?
I just had a great conversation with Lise, my neighbor at Hovedøya in Oslo. She and her partner have sailed from Oslo to the north coast of England several years back. She offered her experience of crossing the North Sea via Mandal in South Norway, to Inverness, Scotland. From there they took the Caledonian Canal to Corpach. The trip took three days.
Then they took the Crinan Canal from Crinan Basin to Adrishaig Basin, a one-day trip if you don’t stop on the way.
The links to these canals will take you to information about what to expect, regulations and fees as well as a PDF Skipper’s guide.
